Which barcode format should I use?
EAN-13 is the worldwide standard for retail products sold at point of sale — supermarkets, pharmacies, and any shop with a POS system. If you're selling products in Europe, Australia, or most international markets, use EAN-13.
UPC-A is the equivalent standard in the United States and Canada. It has 12 digits. If your product is sold in North American retail, use UPC-A.
Code 128 is a flexible format that encodes any ASCII character. It's widely used for internal logistics labels, shipping, and warehouse management. If you need a barcode for internal tracking and don't need to register it with a GS1 database, Code 128 is your best bet.
ISBN-13 is an EAN-13 barcode with a 978 or 979 prefix used for books. Publishers and booksellers require this format.
